福晉擺擺手：“撤吧，你們也去吃吧。這些菜都是好的，我也沒動過，撤下去你們分一分吧?！?/p>
Fujin waved her hand: "Take them away, and go to eat your meals. I did not eat these dishes any more, take them away and divide yourselves."
葡萄和石榴連小桌子一起端出去交給外間的宮女，里面的好菜自然會有人給她們留下來。侍候完福晉漱口，福嬤嬤搬來兩個大迎枕放在福晉背后，榻上的小炕桌也挪出去，道：“福晉略歪歪，停一刻再抄吧?！?/p>
Putao and Shiliu took those dishes away with the small tables and gave to the palace-maids waiting outside. Of course, others would leave the good dishes for them. After serving Fujin to gargle, Fu-momo moved two high pillow at her back on the couch, took away the small ondol-table, then said: "Fujin, just take a nap, then transcribe again later."
用完膳后，福晉也有些身倦神疲，可她一向是習慣先把事情做完再休息，不然歇也歇不安穩，就從榻上起來道：“不必了，抄完再歇也是一樣?！?/p>
Fujin had a bit of general debility after lunch, but she always used to resting after working through all the things, otherwise she couldn’t even take a peaceful rest. So she rose up from the couch and said: "it’s needless, it’s the same that I’ll take a rest after finishing my transcription."
福嬤嬤苦心要勸，但深知福晉的習慣只好幫著鋪紙，再叫葫蘆來磨墨。她心里卻道等抄完了經，正是四阿哥從上書房回來的時候了，那時候才真是歇不成呢?？伤裁靼赘x想等四阿哥回來時，她剛好抄完了經，也好跟四阿哥表一表功，不然福晉一天只抄了一卷，反而顯得懈怠、懶惰。
Fu-momo wanted to persuade her painstakingly, but she knew the habit of Fujin very well. So she had to spread the paper for Fujin, and call Hulu in to mill the Chinese ink stick. she said to herself in her mind that the Fourth Prince would come back from the the Prince's-Education-Study when Fujin finished the transcription, just so, Fujin wouldn’t have any chance to rest at that time. Though she knew that Fujin wanted to show off her contributions with the transcription to the Fourth Prince when he’d come back. Or else she would seem to be sluggish as she transcribed only a roll of the Buddhist Scriptures all day long.
福晉抄著這進宮來后抄了足有百遍的法華經，心里卻想著石榴說的李格格中午特意要的多加辣椒的烤羊肉來。
Transcribing the Lotus Sutra which she had done more than hundred times since moving into the palace, Fujin still kept on thinking of the news delivered by Shiliu that Gege Lee-Clan had specially ordered roasted mutton with much pepper at noon.
她進宮后跟四阿哥后院的女人也算是打了半年多的交道了，宋格格是個溫柔到有些悶的女人，四阿哥對她只是淡淡的，倒是這個李格格，她不爭先，不掐尖，不愛在四阿哥面前表功，也不愛在她面前獻殷勤，可她就是入了四阿哥的眼。
She had made contact with the harem of the Fourth Prince after entering the palace for more than half a year. Gege song-Clan was so gentle that even some stuffy, the Fourth Prince treated her just so-so. 福晉在心里道，這李格格再聰明一分，就是精明，那四阿哥自然不會喜歡，如果再笨一分，那就聰明不到點子上，她也有法子治她?，F在這樣實在叫她為難。
Fujin thought in her mind, if Gege Lee-Clan would be a bit smarter as astute, the Fourth Prince would not love her at all; if she would be a bit stupider as she couldn’t get the important points, Fujin also had many ways to regulate her. But it was really too awkward for her now.
因為李格格現在真稱的上是謹守本分，對她這個福晉也是知道退避，就是對著宋格格這個比她先侍候四阿哥的人也是尊敬體貼的。她要是假裝的，福晉絕對能找機會拆穿她，偏偏人家實心實意。
Because Gege Lee-Clan was really careful of her duty now, as she knew well how to withdraw and keep off Fujin. Also she was respectful and considerate to Gege song-Clan who served the Fourth Prince earlier than her. If she had pretended to do that, Fujin could find opportunities to expose her absolutely, but, she was really honest and sincere.
福晉手下的筆不由的重了三分，一句‘以此妙慧、求無上道’的最后一個字寫的尤其凌厲，左看右看不像樣子，只好把這一截裁了重抄。
Fujin couldn’t help exerting more physical strength on the Chinese pen more as three of ten point, the last word of a sentence "in this wonderful wisdom, supreme" was written especially sharp in bad shape. Left see right to see, she had to cut it out and transcribed again.
心靜，要心靜。福晉再三告誡自己，李格格是真乖巧總好過假天真。一個懂事的人總是能商量的。何況，她也不過是個漢女罷了。

李薇現在嘴一張大就有撕裂般的刺疼，連說話也不敢說，含糊道：“我就這一個愛好，你就別念了。玉瓶輕輕跺腳，急道：“格格……！”
Li Wei felt a tearing pain when opening her mouth a bit wide right now, and she even dared not to speak, said unclearly: "I love this appetite only, don’t talk about again and again in recollection." Yuping lightly stamped her foot anxiously:" Gege......!"
李薇對著鏡子照了照，剛才上藥前洗了臉，脂米分都洗掉了，她也沒再涂，只在嘴唇上潤了點口脂。

她對玉瓶隨意甩了甩手道：“別站著了，我晚上不吃點心了，喝點酸梅湯就行。你現在趕緊去跟張德勝說一聲，讓他記得跟他師傅說。”
She swung her hand casually to Yuping: "Don't stand there only, I’ll drink plum juice instead of eating snacks tonight. Now you go to tell Desheng Zhang at once, let him remember to told this to his master."
玉瓶有一條好處就是聽話，雖然心疼李薇也趕緊去了，宮嬪有恙，特別是在臉上身上能看到的地方是不能侍候的，免得讓貴人看了不雅，不快，讓貴人染上不潔。
One of Yuping’s advantages was obedient. Although she distressed Li Wei, she hurried to do that. In the Forbidden City, if one of imperial concubines got ailments, especially seen on the face or body , she was forbidden to serve the high-ranking ones, so as not to make the high-ranking ones felt Indecent, unhappy, and be infected with unclean things.
她先去書房找張德勝，再去正院找福晉的四個大丫頭中隨便哪一個說一聲，李格格雖然是她的主子，但身份上來講實在沒資格直接跟福晉說話，這等小事跟福晉身邊的丫頭說一聲就行。
She went to the study to find Desheng Zhang, then went to the formal quadrangle and found ever one of 4 big palace-maids of Fujin to make a sound. Though Gege Lee-Clan was her master, but a Gege didn’t have any qualifications to speak to Fujin directly in terms of identity. It was enough to make a sound about those small matters to the personal palace-maids of Fujin.
自從福晉嫁給四阿哥后，李格格貪嘴吃羊肉上火的事不是一兩次，所以玉瓶剛進正院就看到石榴，跟她說一聲就得了。
Since Fujin had been married to the Fourth Prince, Gege Lee-Clan got inflamed because of eating mutton gluttonous for more than one or two times, so Yuping met with Shiliu while entering the courtyard, and just told her.
出來后再去膳房，這次去老太監正忙著，四阿哥該下書房回來用點心了，接待玉瓶的是個小太監。玉瓶沒說李薇吃羊肉吃上火的事，雖然大家都知道，她只是說格格不要晚點了，最多要一碗清粥幾份下粥的小菜，明天早膳也只用清粥，下晌吃什么再說。
Then she come out to the kitchen, where the old eunuch was busy this time, as the Fourth Prince would eat snacks after coming back from the study. A little eunuch received Yuping. She did not tell him that Li Wei got inflamed because of eating mutton, although it was well-known, she just said that Gege didn't want snacks at night, and ordered at most a bowl of congee porridge with several side-dishes suitable for porridge, and only porridge as breakfast tomorrow morning. What to eat at tomorrow’s afternoon, would be told the next day.
小太監人雖小卻機靈的很，他們這些下人看主子們的事就當看熱鬧了，什么事主子們不清楚，他們卻都門清。老太監在早上一起來跟幾個心腹用飯時就說，昨天福晉去給德妃娘請安說話了，今天李格格必點羊肉，三五日內肯定只用清粥別的什么都不要。
The small eunuch was small but very clever. As servants, they looked at the things of masters just like watching the fun. They knew everything clearly, even the masters knew nothing. When eating breakfast together in the morning, the old Eunuch told a few his confidants that as yesterday Fujin had gone to pay respects to the Empress De-Fei and spoken with her, today Gege Lee-Clan should order mutton, and only congee porridge with nothing either in the following 3 or 5 days.
他還交待人早上就把腌好的咸鴨蛋挑個頭大又好看的洗干凈準備著給李格格配粥用，下午也讓人給慶豐司打了招呼，明天要上好的老鴨兩只，以后每天都要留兩只，專用來煲湯用給李格格下火。
At morning, he also confessed others to pick up big and nice clean ones of the marinated Salted Duck Egg for Gege Lee-Clan eating with porridge. Afternoon, he confessed others to address the Department Qingfeng asking for 2 real-good old ducks per-day, by which cooking soup specially for Gege Lee-Clan to clear her internal heat from tomorrow to the next days
畢竟李格格可以只要清粥，他們可不能只給格格上清粥。
After all, Gege Lee-Clan could only order as long as the porridge, but they couldn’t hand in porridge only.
所以小太監聽了玉瓶的話只是滿口答應，恭恭敬敬的送人走后，轉身回到膳房內見著老太監，笑道：“讓爺爺說著了，李主子那邊今兒晚上什么都不要，明天早上只要清粥?！?/p>
So the little eunuch just listened to words of Yuping and promised her readily. After sending her away respectfully, he turned back to see the old Eunuch, smiled and said: " Grandpa, what you said before is all right. Master Li orders noting this evening, and only porridge tomorrow morning."
老太監只顧盯著做奶餑餑，聞言只嗯了一聲。
The old eunuch focused on making milk pastry, and only “H'm' ”1 when listening that.
小太監好好的退下去，一轉頭卻看到他師傅正在擺食盒，下層鎮著一層冰，上面包著棉布，上層擺著三個桔子大小的白瓷帶蓋圓碗，碗形曲線流暢，上下無一絲紋飾，整個白瓷碗擺在那里簡直像個白玉圓球，透白透白的。
The small eunuch just took back down, but when turning over his head, he saw his master laying out a hamper wrapped in a cloth outside, with downside a layer of ice to keep dishes cool, and upside three white round porcelain bowls in the size of orange with covers. The curve of the bowls was shaped smoothly without any decoration, and the whole white porcelain bowl placed there looked like a white round jade ball at all, so transparent white.
小太監趕緊上前給他師傅打下手，他師傅看到他殷勤，笑道：“可別說師傅不疼你，停一刻把這食盒提到李格格那兒去?！?/p>
The little eunuch then rushed up to take service with his master. seeing he was do affable, his master laughed: "Don’t say I, your maser, didn’t care about you. Mention this box to the place of Gege Lee-Clan a moment later."
? ?小太監好奇：“師傅，這是什么??？”
The small eunuch was curious:" Master, what is this?"
師傅打開一碗，他一看，居然是酸奶，還散發著裊裊的寒氣，可見是剛從冰柜里取出來的。上面還點綴著紫紅色的玫瑰醬，小太監看得口水都快出來了，轉頭卻想剛才玉瓶姑娘來了明明沒點這個。
His master opened the cover of one bowl, he looked upon and found it was yogurt exuding a curl of cold. So, it was just taken out of the freezer. Seeing the yogurt dotted with purple red rose sauce above, the small eunuch’s mouth was watering a lot, then he turned to think that Miss Yuping never ordered it any more earlier.
那這是他師傅的孝敬？
So, that was show-respect of his master?
小太監這么想，等了一刻送過去時就想一定要在玉瓶姑娘那里給師傅表一表功才啊。結果他提著食盒過去時卻根本沒見到玉瓶姑娘，在門口就讓人攔下來了，旁邊一個小丫頭從他手里接過食盒，拿了個荷包塞了六個五錢一個的銀角子賞他。
The little eunuchs thought that,he should show off the contribution of his master to Miss Yuping when he sent the yogurt over there a moment later. Finally, he didn't meet Miss Yuping when mentioning the box to the place of Gege Lee-Clan, and he was stopped at the door by others. A little palace-maid by side took the food box from his hands, gave him a pouch with six cob money every of which weighted 5g, as his reward.
他還要再站住說兩句閑話，那小丫頭卻擺擺手，豎起手指在嘴上一擋，用力噓了一聲把他趕走了。
he stood there trying to say some gossiped words, but the little palace-maid waved her hand, put her finger in the mouth as a block: “shhh!” she hissed on exertion and drove him away.
小太監糊里糊涂的回去見到師傅還委屈沒給師傅表成功，他師傅拿了剛出鍋的龍眼包子塞了他一嘴，笑道：“傻兒子，你就沒見屋里站的爺爺穿著什么色兒的袍子？”說完把他攆出去玩了。
The little eunuch was so confused, and when going back to see his master-eunuch, he felt wronged for not succeeding to showing off the contribution of his master. His master took a Dragon-eye steamed-bun just taken out of the pot ,and stuffed it fully of his mouth, laughing: "silly boy, didn’t you see the gown’s color of the master standing in the room?" Then his master drove him out to play.
小太監讓包子燙的舌頭疼也舍不得吐出來，一邊吸氣一邊去屋里找涼茶喝，邊喝邊回憶，剛才他過去，隔著門簾只能看到站在門邊的一個大太監的袍子邊和靴子，那袍子邊有些看不清，但靴子倒是底高二寸五分的……
The little eunuch was reluctant to spit the bun out even it was so hot to make his tongue painful. He inhaled while going to the room to find herbal tea to drink. Drinking and recalling, he could only see the gown’s edge and boots of a big eunuch standing beside the door through the curtain, and the edge of his gown was not seen so clear, but the sole of his boots was five-inch high......
嗯？！

小太監一口包子涼茶差點沒噎死他?。∷皖^看看自己的靴子底，再想想膳房里各位爺爺的靴子底，這才明白師傅是什么意思！怪不得師傅讓他過一刻再過去！
The small eunuch was almost choked to death with steamed buns and herbal tea fully stuffed in his mouth!! He looked down at the sole of his own boots, and thought over the sole of the boots of master-eunuchs in the kitchen, then understood the meaning of his master at last! No wonder his master demanded him to send it over a moment!
那樣的靴子底在這個院子里，只有阿哥身邊的大太監才穿?。?/p>
